Folic Acid vs Folate

Hi!

I like V80 a lot and especially love the fact that you're completely transparent about the ingredients. Kudos for that!

Going through the list of ingredients, there is one that I would actually like to avoid: folic acid.

While folate (the natural form occurring in many plants like legumes, nuts, lettuce, etc.) is very healthy and promotes oxygen transport in red blood cells, nervous and cardiovascular systems as well as cognitive functions, the synthetic version of it (folic acid) has been found to be detrimental to health. It can reduce the protective functions of immune cells and even promoter cancer.

(Troen AM, Mitchell B. Sorensen B et al Unmetabolized folic acid in plasma is associated with reduced natural killer cell cytotoxicity among postmenopausal women / Nutr 2006,136-189-94)

Give this context, I wonder if there would be a way for Verve to include the naturally occurring form of folate instead of folic acid?

Thanks for considering and I'm happy to discuss and learn.

Best,

Marcus

    Hi Mark,

Thank you for your thoughtful feedback on V80! It's fantastic that you're paying such close attention to the ingredients and their impact on health.

The folic acid in Transparent Greens V80 is sourced as calcium L-methylfolate, which is a more bioavailable form of folic acid, ensuring better absorption and efficiency in the body. This form is often preferred for those who may have difficulty converting folic acid into its active form naturally.

We do appreciate the feedback as we are constantly reviewing and evolving our formulas to ensure we are delivering the highest quality for our customers.

Let us know if we can do anything else for you – we’re here to help.

    Kind Regards,
    G @ Team Verve
