How do you stay motivated in your fitness journey? (from the Founder)
Hello everyone,
I’m Oliver Cookson, founder of Verve, and I wanted to share some insights on staying motivated in your fitness journey. It’s something I’m passionate about and have learned a lot about over the last 25 years. Here are a few tips that have helped me:
Consistency is jkey: The most important thing is to be consistent. Don't worry too much about specific weight, strength, or speed goals initially. Focus on making your workouts a regular part of your routine. The key is to show up and do your workout consistently, even on days when you’re not feeling at your best.
Track your progress: Keep a journal or use a fitness app to track your workouts and progress. Seeing how far you’ve come can be incredibly motivating and can help you stay committed to your fitness journey.
Find what you enjoy: Exercise shouldn’t feel like a chore. Find activities you enjoy, whether it’s running, cycling, weightlifting, or yoga. When you enjoy what you’re doing, it’s much easier to stay motivated.
Mix it up: Avoid monotony by mixing up your workouts. Try different types of exercises, join a fitness class, or explore outdoor activities. Variety can keep things interesting and prevent burnout.
Stay connected: Engaging with a community, like this forum, can provide support and motivation. Share your goals and achievements, ask for advice, and encourage others. Knowing that you’re part of a supportive community can make a big difference.
Reward yourself: Celebrate your milestones. Whether it’s hitting a new personal best or simply sticking to your routine for a month, reward yourself. It doesn’t have to be anything big, just something that makes you feel good about your progress.
Mindset matters: Remember that fitness is a journey, not a destination. There will be ups and downs, and that’s perfectly normal. Stay positive, be patient with yourself, and focus on the long-term benefits of a healthy lifestyle.
Visualise success: Visualising your success can be a powerful motivator. Imagine how you’ll feel and look as you continue to reach your fitness goals. This can help keep you focused and driven.
Staying motivated is a personal journey, and what works for one person might not work for another. Find what keeps you motivated and stick with it. I’m looking forward to hearing what motivates all of you in your fitness journeys.
I look forward to hearing your thoughts?
Cheers, Oliver.
